Support and partnership
Work measuredin decades.
The association is building institutions rather than running campaigns. That asks a particular kind of patience from the people who support it, and it is the only basis on which this work succeeds.

Why patience matters
Institutions are builtby people who expectto wait.
The association is building institutions rather than running campaigns. Nothing described on this site pays back inside a funding cycle, and the work is designed on that assumption.
Support is discussed directly and in confidence, and the terms of any partnership are set out in writing before it begins.
How support is given
Four ways in.
Each of these is practical rather than ceremonial, and each has a direct effect on how many fellows can be formed and how well.
- I
Endowing a place
Underwriting fellowships so that selection turns on judgment and promise rather than on whether an applicant can meet the cost.
- II
Hosting
Offering a house, an estate, a hall or a library for an Academy, a forum, a salon or a residency.
- III
Institutional partnership
Collaboration with universities, publishers, foundations and cultural institutions on programmes, publications and public events.
- IV
Supporting the network
Funding the parts that have no natural sponsor: mentorship, chapters, translation, and the slow editorial work that publishing requires.

Partnership
Work measured indecades, not quarters.
The association is a non-profit under Swiss law. Support is discussed directly and in confidence, and the terms of any partnership are set out in writing before it begins.
Enquiries are best made through the contact page, marked for partnership. They are read by the association and answered by it.
